Join us for a wine pairing class led by our very own Ryan Kalkwarf, a sommelier with over 20 years' experience and a passion for turning great wine into unforgettable moments. Throughout the evening, Ryan will guide you through Four Thoughtfully Curated Wines from Spain and Portugal. This tasting features exceptional wines from The Wine Shop at Honeycomb, each expertly matched with seasonal bites designed to highlight the unique character of every wine.

This special tasting celebrates the rich diversity of Spain and Portugal's many world-renowned wine regions. You'll explore a variety of styles, including crisp whites, vibrant sparkling wines, elegant reds, and bold, full-bodied classics while learning how the diverse microclimates and ancient river valleys in this region and centuries-old winemaking heritage shape every bottle.

Throughout the class, you'll learn how to properly taste wine—from sight and aroma to structure and finish—while Ryan breaks down the principles behind successful food and wine pairings and explains what makes each combination work so beautifully. Join us as we explore the flavors, landscapes, and timeless winemaking traditions that have made Spain and Portugal some of the world's most celebrated and influential wine-producing countries.

MEET THE SOMMELIER:

With over 20 years in the hospitality industry from operating restaurants in nearly every position in the kitchen, behind the bar, and on the floor to running a private chef business, working in retail wine sales, food/beverage consulting, and selling wine for various distributors across several markets, Ryan joined Honeycomb Kitchen Shop in November of 2025 as a Wine Specialist to offer his expertise to the community at large.
